WYTEC

WORKSHOPS

WYTEC is capable of providing several different workshops. These workshops are primarily for the space sciences but can be adjusted to meet your needs. Every effort is made to make our workshops interdisciplinary. Workshops on technology integration are also available. A list of some of the available workshops, curriculums, and trainings are listed below.

Space Explorers provides standards-based curricula, NASA mission simulations and real NASA experiments to students to create an intensive, multidisciplinary, global educational experience.
A NSF funded curriculum designed to teach students the basics about variable stars, how to observe them, and the process for recording and reporting observational data. An integration of math is included and the use of statistical software is used.
Hands-On Universe ® (HOU) is an educational program that enables students to investigate the Universe while applying tools and concepts from science, math, and technology. Using the Internet, HOU participants around the world request observations from an automated telescope, download images from a large image archive, and analyze them with the aid of user-friendly image processing software. The Lawrence Hall of Science at University of California, Berkeley, is the educational center for the HOU project.......from the HOU web site.
The goal of NASA's education outreach programs is to inspire America's students, create learning opportunities, and enlighten inquisitive young minds by engaging them in the Solar System exploration efforts conducted by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. The Cassini Outreach Team has created classroom activities that teach students about the science and engineering behind the Cassini Mission to Saturn.
The goal of the Solar System Educators Program (SSEP) is to inspire America's students, create learning opportunities, and enlighten inquisitive minds by engaging them in the Solar System exploration efforts conducted by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL). SSEP is a collaborative effort between the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), Space Explorers Inc. (SEI), and the Virginia Space Grant Consortium (VSGC). However, the heart of the program is a large nationwide network of highly motivated educators. These Solar System Educators lead workshops around the country that show teachers how to successfully incorporate JPL materials into their classes.
The Solar System Ambassadors Program is a public outreach program designed to work with motivated volunteers across the nation. Volunteers are asked to organize and conduct public events that communicate exciting discoveries and plans for exploration in Solar System research and technology through non-traditional forums, e.g. Rotary Clubs, libraries, museums, planetariums, "star parties," mall displays, etc.
Pasco Scientific is the leading company in the world in the development of computer-interfaced probe ware for educational instruction. WYTEC has been trained in Pasco's Technology Educator Program. We can show you how this valuable equipment can be interfaced into curriculum in order to make learning fun, integrate technology, and meet state science and math standards.
