• WAVE is an on-line, Wyoming public school.
• WAVE operates as a charter school allowable under Wyoming statutes.
• WAVE is a fully accredited school and all courses meet Wyoming standards.

Who is WAVE intended for?

• Any student not enrolled in another Wyoming school district.
• Drop outs of any Wyoming public school.
• Any student needing an alternative to a traditional public school setting.
• Interested home school populations.

Can other students utilize WAVE resources?

• YES! Any district or organization can contract with WAVE to enroll their students for specific courses.
• This could provide services for:
  • Alternative schools
  • Group homes or other youth crisis centers
  • Home-bound students
  • Court ordered placement students
  • Incarcerated students
  • Alternative learners or special education students
  • School Choice requests (for NCLB)
  • Course offerings to smaller school districts that may not offer required courses or have staff limitations
  • Alternative instruction requirements
• Some resources established by WAVE (and it's parent corporation) are available to ALL Wyoming students.

How does it work?

Individual participation

• Students not enrolled in another Wyoming school district will be enrolled in WAVE.
• Enrollment can be either full or part time.
• All coursework is provided on-line via the Internet.
• Students enrolled in WAVE have access to Wyoming certified teachers for assistance as needed.
• Students enrolling in 4 or more classes will be provided a computer and some peripherals to facilitate participation in WAVE courses. The provided equipment is loaned for student use to access WAVE materials.
• WAVE resources are available 24/7 and students can work on courses at any time.
• Students are monitored for achievement and progress through an educational learning management system. Student standing and grades can be accessed by parents or other designated "supervisors".
• A student performance contract is required for participation. Click the button to see an example of a student performance contract.
• Enrolled students are required by the State to participate in the WYCAS and other pertinent standardized testing.

Participation by students enrolled in other districts or institutions

• These students remain enrolled within their current district.
• WAVE resources are made available as needed for each student or school program.
• The student performance contract is modified to meet the requirements of the contracting district in regards to progress and achievement standards.
• Students take the WYCAS and standards test required by the district they are enrolled in.

Is WAVE the best choice for everyone?

• Not all students learn best through on-line education. This format requires a high degree of individual effort and self discipline. Also, some students are more successful in education through other learning modalities.
• WAVE is not designed to replace or compete with traditional education. It exists to provide "specialized" educational services and meet the needs of students requiring non-traditional educational settings.

WAVE curriculum vendors.

• WAVE will utilize 3rd party curriculum vendors in many of its courses. The vendors producing these materials have tied their materials to Wyoming state standards in all areas. WAVE will also develop additional materials and curriculum to meet student needs.
• WAVE will provide as many of these services as possible from our servers. In some cases, WAVE will pay the required subscription or tuition fees.
